Cardiff has claimed the top spot in a poll of the UK's most user-friendly cities according to readers of Condé Nast travel magazine. In the 2005 Conde Nast Readers Travel Awards Cardiff has been named as the eighth best city in the UK, rising from eleventh place in 2004, and praised as the nation's most user-friendly city for visitors. Richard Jones, general manager of The Cardiff initiative, who job is to promote Cardiff as a tourist destination, said: "This is further cause for celebration in Cardiff's centenary year. More and more people are visiting our city and we are proud that they find us 'user-friendly.' "Condé Nast readers have shown good taste and they have proved that efforts to promote Cardiff are starting to pay off as we move up the popularity table." Richard Jones added: "Cardiff has everything for business and leisure tourists and it's all within a stone's throw of the city centre. That's why they think Cardiff is user friendly. It also has something to do with the friendliness of Cardiffians and Cardiff businesses, who put themselves out to make visitors welcome."

The Millennium Stadium has played a major part in Cardiff's regeneration, and since opening in 1999 for the Rugby World Cup, the stadium has solidified its claim as the spiritual home of rugby. The stadium has recently become equally famous for football, as while England's national stadium is being rebuilt, all roads to Wembley take a detour and lead to Cardiff instead. The FA Cup, football league playoffs, and League Cup finals are all played here.

A vibrant city offering thriving cultural scene, accommodation to suit all budgets, a diverse mix of entertainment, restaurants and bars and some of the best shopping in the UK. Whilst the centre embodies Welsh culture, Welsh history and the Welsh landscape and houses excellent contemporary Welsh art and a fun, hands on, Arts Explorer section, Cardiff's dockland area is no longer the run down, no go area that it once was. Instead it has become one of the highlights of a trip to Cardiff. The huge Wales Millennium Centre towers over the bay and is well worth exploring inside even if you're not going to watch a performance

The capital city of Wales is also booming as a centre for conferencing. The range of venues run from majestic to cosy and the general upbeat mood of the city makes it a top choice for conference planners. What's more, delegates have a wonderful time outside their convention centres too.
